2014 ReSpace Competition: Registration Ends Feb. 20

Joel Lubell, M.Arch Track III first year student at NC State, is also founder of the ReSpace Competition, in which designers imagine small spaces constructed with reuse materials. The winning design is built by Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. Joel worked as Deconstruction Manager for Habitat before founding ReSpace, and he was named Tar Heel of the Week by the News & Observer in 2012.

This spring, 2014 Competition involves the design of a porch  a community gathering space that is central to southern culture. Designers are challenged to balance program, culture, and context while thoughtfully incorporating reuse materials.
